A$AP Rocky is no stranger to trying new things when it comes to music, so it should come as no surprise that the Harlem rapper took on Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” for Triple J’s Like a Version series.Backed by a five-piece band, Rocky didn’t change up the song too much, playing up to his strengths and using his unique voice to the best of his abilities. Flacko did insert one small change into the song though, changing the lyrics of “I left my home in Georgia,” to, “I left my home in Harlem.”During his time at the Triple J studios, Rocky also performed his Skepta-assisted hit single, “Praise the Lord (Da Shine).” The A$AP Mob member spoke about his relationship with the U.K. rapper and said the two are like family. “Me and Skeppy, we’ve been fam for years,” Rocky said. “Our family is family. If I’m in London, or my people in London, you know where they at.”The song is featured on Rocky’s latest album, Testing. Released in May, the At. Long. Last. A$AP follow-up features guest appearances from Kid Cudi, Kodak Black, Playboi Carti, French Montana and more. Production on the project includes FnZ, Hector Delgado, Boys Noize and Clams Casino.Watch A$AP Rocky’s cover of “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” below.See 28 Hip-Hop Artists’ Favorite Lil Wayne Projects window.twttr = (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0], t = window.twttr || {}; if (d.getElementById(id)) return t; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); t._e = []; t.ready = function(f) { t._e.push(f); }; return t; }(document, “script”, “twitter-wjs”)); (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, “script”, “facebook-jssdk”));
